Why work with a Speech-Language Pathologist?

Experiencing communication or swallowing difficulties can change or limit the ability to fully engage in life, relationships, work, goals and interests. We work with each client, their care partners and medical team to set meaningful rehabilitation goals, measure progress, and regain confidence and independence.

"Speech" therapy is more than speech... You may benefit from Speech-Language Pathology services if you experience difficulty in the following areas:

  • Swallowing: eating and drinking safely and effectively
  • Motor speech: the mechanics of speaking, from breath support and voice to moving lips, tongue and jaw with the right precision
  • Language: finding, recognizing and organizing words, signs or symbols to express your thoughts, understand others, read and write
  • Cognitive communication: the thought processes that make it possible to focus, remember, reason, plan, follow through, stay on top of things, and also be aware and regulate behavior

Speech-Language Pathologists are expertly trained to assess and address difficulties in these areas.
